Original Art Prints
Archival Quality
Each original print is made with personal involvement of the artist to the highest quality standards using the finest museum quality archival pigment inks and fine art cotton paper or canvas. All prints are hand-signed by the artist and come with a lifetime guarantee against fading or color shift. Print sizes typically range from 12"x18" to 30"x40". After the print is created, it is then varnished using a high quality liquid acrylic. Finally, the print is shipped rolled in a protective tube. Once received, the customer would have the print mounted and framed by a professional framer in their local area in the same manner and style that a painting is framed (without glass).
Multiple Originals
Originality is generally associated with singularity coupled to uniqueness. However, the term “multiple original” is widely used in the art world of galleries and museums where there is no single physical original artwork to make reproductions from but rather, there is a source matrix of some kind (e.g., stone, plate, etc.) that the artist has fashioned for the purpose of creating the resulting artwork; the fine art print. In the art medium of photography, the source matrix is the negative whether it be analog (film) or digital (binary file). The matrix (or photographic negative) itself is not considered the actual artwork but is the source and basis for its creation. Multiple original prints are not mass produced as each print is given personal effort and attention by the artist. They are created from the source matrix with the artist being involved and overseeing the process to make sure that they are completely satisfied with the presentation of their vision.
About Print Editions
Due to the evolution of artistic sensibilities as well as continuous improvements in printing technologies and materials, Mark Clune's fine-art prints that have not been part of limited editions in the past are now available in numbered editions only so to offer the very best photographic art print that he is capable of making today rather than sell a print from a limited edition set of prints made earlier in time. Mark Clune prepares each print with great care, and the limitations of his own time make his original prints by nature of limited quantity.
"As months and years pass the photographer refines his sensibilities and may change the value relationships within an image according to his evolving awareness. I have compared this with the interpretive variations in the performances of music and drama." ~ Ansel Adams
